Have been reading sporty's post and they recently had a bracket racing day where all the riders were timed in the warm up's and fitted to there classes from there. Result heaps of good racing between all types of bike. What do you guys think of this type of racing??? Good bad or just ugly? I know its not the traditional type of raceing but I personaly think it would be a great bit of fun and may even head down for it next year and see how it works. Your opinions would be great! Grin

1. If something ain't broke , don't fix it . Ride days are ride days , racing is racing - and bear in mind I am a backmarker .

2.Racing is a trial of speed and reliability , the fastest person on the day on the best prepared machine on the day will win their given class on the day...its called competition and not everyone can be the winner.......

3. We have RR for a one in all in class .

4. Nuffie racing may be appropriate , even fun for a one off meeting - but not in replacement of the  successful Closed to Club Championship format, or the Three Hour , or the One Hour , or the endurance events or the NQ Titles .

5. You did ask for opinions.......

Would never think of replacing what we have just thought it mite be a fun thing for a one off or even if others would be interested in going to warrik to give it a shot next year. It would be far to much work to do for club days Shocked work is not what i want to be doing at club days

 Mmmmm....Reminder to self:
1. Must acquire Political Correctness Manual for Webmaster/ Tim Shocked
May take more then a 'Google' search Huh
Advocating Competition.....really...what are you thinking Undecided

2. Can the Webmaster make a 'Spell Check' Function automatically be applied to Posts?

3. Bracket, Racket, Schmacket....just keep the Motorcycle Racing Concept without bells and whistles, free Pink and White Marshmallows for everyone  Wink

4. ALL FORMS of Motor Racing run by the Law of the Jungle. The weak and the slow get eaten Shocked

5.Lets get Jenny Stirling involved and BAN it! Cry

So that's my opinion.

And I agree , as stated - for a one-off , or novelty meeting , it might be fun .We are fortunate to have well subscribed stand alone classes , it is important to keep promoting them on a standalone class basis. This  enables riders to select the class they wish to race in , rather than a group of people they want to ride with.....
Still , bracket racing has its place - Historics in particular  , or RR where you have several different classes of machine in the same race . It would be "something different" , although we currently have alternatives to 6 lap sprints  .But applying bracket racing to an existing class where rider ability / machine preparation determines the outcome for the class would be a folly ...... racing is racing.
BTW , opinions are like iceholes - everyone has one  - and 'tis a good topic you have opened for discussion..... Wink......thanks......

I pretty much agree with Tim so far. I also am a backmarker, but I still often get wonderful races happening and have a ball. For me THAT'S winning not first place ( the word "rationalization" should , in fact, immediately spring to mind at this point).
However , number 2, I don't seem to have a problem with being eaten, and have often enjoyed it.

Because of the style of our northern tracks theres no real advantage or disadvantage no matter what bike you run.  Everything i have had the good fortune to race (motards and moriwaki aside) have all been lapped at the same pace anyway.  cbr250, vfr400, rgv250 and that superboomboom thing of Jerry's all identical lap times.

Ride whatever you want in that class then peel out in the RR class as well if you really must see who's is bigger Shocked  If we want some bracket racing then maybe an organised TMCC trip to Warwick next year might hit the spot Huh  dunno, just an idea
