Seeing all the great still shots on this and other sites got me wondering about some helmet cam footage.  If the club had a helmet cam that could be passed around from rider to rider at meetings in all classes a good cross-section of footage could be cut and made into a hilights dvd at the and of season. A decent cam costs about $600 so if you sold 20 or so at $30 each youd cover your costs and have some cool footage to show your mates.  It would be a fun way to raise a few bucks for the club and a good training tool for those that want to improve their riding.

Just a thought

I have access to a bike mounted camera I can use when I go to Mareeba that can be mounted facing forawrds / backwards / anywhere.  I have done a bit of lead and follow work with it before it works pretty good, and like you say an excellent tool for riding training....

....can also make cool movies with soundtracks / titles / still photos etc using windows movie maker, which is very entertaining....

How would a bike mounted camera go on a motard?  Would the footage just end up looking weird with the sideways stuff Huh

Ive never tried one but would be keen to give it a go.  Wouldn't even know where or how to mount the things.  Be great to get something started though.

We frigged around putting it in a heap of different spots, you would find one for a motard.  My favourite was low down on the bike in front of the footpeg facing forward so you could see the action of the disc and suspension and get that wierd wheel looks like it's going backwards thing at certain speeds.  I reckon sideways action would look good with a view like that as you could really get up close to the extreme slide angles...

Now this is one very late reply But man that sounds like a great idea. I would be more then keen to get a copy of a high light disk from the years comp. Would we even be aloud to mount a camera on the bike rule wise?
